Belcher supports CGIAR Initiative in Market Intelligence and Product Profiling Design
Market Intelligence Initiative ToC Review Workshops
In November, Brian Belcher travelled to Nairobi to support Theory of Change review workshops for the new OneCGIAR Initiative on Market Intelligence and Product Profiling Design (MIPP). This work will help ensure the nested Theory of Change is testable for ongoing monitoring and adaptive management over the course of the Initiative to realize intended outcomes and impacts. MIPP aims to maximize CGIAR and partners’ return on investment in breeding and seed systems. MIPP will support other Initiatives through the provision of reliable and timely market intelligence that enables stronger demand orientation. The Initiative will also strengthen co-ownership and co-implementation of market intelligence by CGIAR and partners.
MIPP targets six of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). These include no poverty, zero hunger, health and well-being, gender equality, responsible consumption and production, and climate action. MIPP’s primary impact area is gender equality, youth, and social inclusion. Under this impact area, MIPP set a target for more than 2.5 million women producers to benefit. This target also aims for 3.4 million women and girls in adopting households to benefit from high-yield fast cooking beans and orange-flesh sweet potato.
